Isaiah and The Sign of Immanuel

Throughout the Book of Isaiah are several writings which are an indication, or sign, of the world’s coming King. In Isaiah 7:14 he is first known as Immanuel.
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (KJV)
He is also known in Isaiah 9:6 as Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, and The Prince of Peace.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this. (KJV)
By reading through the different books of the prophets it has helped bridge the gap between the old testament and new. I now see how important these different writings are and how they impact the New Testament. For one to fully understand and grasp the New Testament I believe it’s crucial to read the different books which make up the Prophets section in the Old Testament. By doing this it will help answer questions regarding God’s commandments, the new covenant and sin.
